I am currently a PhD candidate in philosophy at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada. Before moving to Vancouver I completed my undergratuate and master’s degrees at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, in the town where I grew up. I spent a semester of my master’s at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) in Belgium, where a course in the philosophy of art introduced me to Richard Wollheim and Nelson Goodman’s work and sparked my interest in aesthetics. My dissertation focuses on general psychological features of our appreciative encounters with the world.
